How do I download a film from this site?

Download tips and troubleshooting:

Most common tips:

  • Users who have difficulty downloading films using Chrome or Firefox should use Internet Explorer (PC) or Safari (Mac or PC) instead.
  • It may take up to a few seconds to connect to the server after pressing on the "Click Here to Start Download". Do not keep pressing on the button as you need only one connection. You can see the status of your download usually in the "Downloads" under Tools menu (Firefox) or "Downloads" under Window menu (Safari and Chrome).
  • You may need to unzip this file if it is not automatically handled by your web browser. On Windows XP, right-click the downloaded zip archive and choose Extract All. On Mac, double-click the downloaded zip archive. Archived (.zip) files will not play on any application! If the file can't be unzipped on either PC or Mac, it means that you didn't download the entire file.
  • Windows (PC) users who have problems with the audio (missing audio) should update iTunes to the current version and follow instructions from Apple
  • If you need to download the film again or get a message "Access Denied" after pressing on the download link, reselect the film from the pull-down menu and reenter the ticket number to start a new download session.
  • Users who have a very slow download speed should use an alternate Internet connection, as most likely your download is being throttled by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Find reports about your Internet Service Provider by using Google search, i.e. (name of your internet provider) download throttling. If your download is throttled by your ISP, we recommend using a connection at your local Public Library. Providers reported to throttle or disable download are Bell South (managed by AT&T in the US) and Bluewin/Swiss Telecom.

If you attempt to download the file using a mobile Internet connection, it is more than likely that your download wil be throttled by your ISP. High Speed Internet or broadband connection free of download throttling is required for a successful download. Connecting to the Internet via networking Ethernet cable versus WiFi can additionally increase the download speed.

Q: I am having problems using Internet Download Manager on Internet Explorer.

If you are using Internet Download Manager, it could interfere with the authenticated download session. Please use your browser directly to handle the download or try a different browser.

Q: Why my download slows down and stops?

You either don't have enough free disk space, have a low bandwidth connection or your download speed is throttled by your ISP, typically ATT (SBC Internet Services) in the US. The solution is to use the Internet connection without a bandwidth cap, for example, at most public libraries free of charge. Connecting to the Internet via networking Ethernet cable, can additionally increase the download speed.

Q: Why my download speed is too slow?

High Speed Internet or broadband connection is required for the download.  If you still encounter slow download speed, it is highly likely due to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) throttling the bandwidth. ISP providers, such as Comcast and ATT (SBC Internet Services), in violation of FCC rules, regularly throttle download speed. Read more here.

Q: Why download keeps stalling on Chrome browser?

You can try disabling the download management extention on Chrome or simply use Safari on Mac or Internet Explorer on PC instead.

Q: Why do I get a message "Access Denied" after pressing on the download link?

If you get a message "Access Denied" after pressing on the download link, reselect the film from the pull-down menu and reenter the ticket number to start a new download session.

Q: Why do I hear only audio and see no video?

If during playback of the film, you hear only audio and don't see any video, or have other video problems, you will need to update your QuickTime to the latest version.

If that didn't solve the problem, some users opened the film in iTunes by dragging the file over iTunes in the dock (Mac) and opened the film in iTunes. The issue is related to the improper codec settings for QuickTime Player.

Q: Why don't I hear any audio?
